Campaign Steps Up With More Media Coverage

The campaign has once again been featured in the local press with an great piece covering our meeting on Sunday 22nd November at the Clutha Bar. Not only does it showcase our high profile support, it highlights up and coming events scheduled for the Clutha in April and the travelling exhibition under development by Glasgow Life.

More Celebrity Support Gets Behind Benny

Yet another heavyweight supporter of Benny has got behind our campaign in the shape of Film and TV actor Tommy Flanagan.

Robert Carlyle Lends His Weight to Benny

Well it's official, Robert Carlyle has agreed to be the official patron on the Benny Lynch Campaign. 

 

Having such a heavy weight celebrity behind us will hopefully build even more momentum and pressure to finally have a statue erected of Scotland's greatest ever boxer. 

 

A huge thank you from the committee to Robert for lending us his support for the campaign.

Special Thanks

The campaign to build a statue of Benny is gaining momentum but we couldn't do it without the support of lots of local businesses and friends.

 

A very big thanks to the Brazen Head pub who have been fundraising on our behalf as well as the Quo Vadis bar in Cardonald who have taken fundraising cans.

 

Thank you to the Riverhill Cafe in Gordon Street where the staff have been sporting the fetching Benny T-Shirts and also a big thank you to Kelvin ABC boxing gym in Govanhill who have produced the T-shirts appeared on TV and allow us to use the gym for our meetings. There are so many more to thank so keep visiting our news page for more thank you's and updates.

Committee Invited To Glasgow Museum Resource Centre

Committe members of the Benny Lynch Campaign visited the Glasgow Open Museum today to see for themselves some of the items in storage related to Benny. One such item was Benny's Globe Trophy. They were also discussing with Kevin Kerrigan from Glasgow Museums a possible exhibition at some point in the future. 

 

Benny's family in Canada are in negotiations with Glasgow Museums to display some of the amaing memorabilia they have. Watch this space!

High Profile Support For Benny!

Evidence that Benny's spirit is alive and well has been shown over the past few weeks with some very high profile supporters of the campaign. Scottish actor Robert Carlyle lending his weight to the campaign as well as author Irvine Welsh.

 

We have also had some high profile models sporting our Benny T-Shirt, courtesy of Kelvin ABC Boxing Gym in Glasgow. None other than The Hangover's Zach Galifianakis and The Libertines Pete Doherty have been snapped sporting Benny T-Shirts. Watch this space for information on how to buy.
